Notice something different? If you’re a regular reader of CW, I’ll bet you do. Yep, we’ve totally redesigned the magazine and here’s why.
About a year ago we switched CW to a fully digital format, which was great. Nearly 20,000 people have visited the digital magazine so far. Each person stays for about 7 minutes per visit, with a bounce rate of 11%—which are considered strong numbers in the online publishing world. We also got a lot of insight into how you’ve been engaging with the content: what you like, what you don’t like so much. And since you’re not shy about letting us know what you think, we got plenty of input directly from you.
What we found is that most people are accessing the magazine directly from the web and bypassing the various apps through which the content was also available. The magazine’s iPad app got great reviews, from the people who used it, but usage by the majority of you didn’t follow. People love the idea of using the native app, but then they forget it’s there and go to the website instead.
So, we decided to fully pursue a better web experience for you. Consider this our beta version 1.0 of the CW “web app.” The beauty of this is that we can be much more flexible with getting information to you, include breaking news and analysis in a way that wasn’t possible before, and offer features like comments and easier sharing to social networks.
