She is a College of Charleston Communication Advisory Council Executive Advisor and teaches communication in Rutgers University’s graduate program. Her books include Using Public Relations to Promote Your Nonprofit Organization and Promoting Nonprofit Organizations: A Reputation Management Approach.
Stacy Cahalan, Vice ChairAfter 15 years in marketing, Stacy made what she calls a conversion to communication. For the past five years, she has worked to transform and shape internal communication at John Deere. She leads a global team of communication managers who partner with diverse business units, product lines, and regions where John Deere has a presence. Her team’s mission is vital to engagement: make employees care about what matters most. John Deere is committed to the success of customers whose work is linked to the land. The company is a world leader in advanced products and services.
John Clemons, ABC, APR, Past ChairJohn G. Clemons, ABC, APR, IABC Fellow, is senior manager of communication and training at Walmart. He has worked for several global, Fortune 500 companies including Raytheon, Marriott International and AT&T in senior and executive management roles. John also served as the Interim Executive Director of IABC in 2012. John has won Gold Quill and other awards for his strategic work in internal communications, employee engagement, writing, and development of innovative internal programs.
Cheryl Carr, ABCCheryl Carr, ABC, is co-founder and chief operating officer of Carr Marketing Communications in Williamsville, New York, outside of Buffalo. She has more than 30 years experience in providing strategic communication counsel to clients that have included healthcare, financial services, nonprofit organizations and other industry sectors. In the past 15 years, she has worked on a number of communications projects centered on the topic of elder care and aging.
Christine ElmerChristine Elmer is a senior corporate communications practitioner with more than 20 years’ experience in public and private sector organizations. She is currently the director of marketing and community relations at Cabrini Health, a large, nonprofit, private healthcare service in Melbourne, Australia. She leads branding, corporate communications, issue management, media relations, internal communication, community participation and stakeholder relations.
Michael MeadMichael Mead is a senior communication professional with more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sector organizations in New Zealand, particularly in emergency management communication. Michael is currently an engagement and communications manager at the New Zealand Transport Agency. He has been president of his local IABC Wellington chapter and was chair of the IABC Asia Pacific Region in 2011–2012.
Melyssa Prince, ABCMelyssa Prince, ABC, has worked in the business and marketing communications field for more than 15 years. Her career includes employment with JP Morgan Chase Bank, American Mensa and a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary where her teams earned awards for several advertising campaigns. Melyssa has also worked as a freelance writer, editor and adjunct lecturer. She was named Communicator of the Year by the IABC Dallas Chapter in 2012.
