For Gabrielle Loring, senior communication consultant at ROC Group, winning a Gold Quill Award wasn’t just about the prestige it brought to her company: It validated her work and proved that her strategies were on track with the best in the business. We asked her about the experience of winning two Gold Quill Awards of Excellence in 2015.
What did it feel like when you found out you had won?
Winning a Gold Quill Award is like getting an Oscar for communicators. I was especially excited by my two Awards of Excellence in 2014, as the Excellence Award had eluded me the previous years. It’s the pinnacle of the profession!
What made your submission so special?
Based on our goals and stakeholder analysis, we knew we wanted to engage and enable employees to take an action without overwhelming them. That’s why we decided to spread our messaging across four pieces, so employees would get the right information when they needed it. We not only met our goals, but surpassed them with this project.
What impact has the award had on your business?
Our clients appreciate winning Gold Quill Awards and being able to share this prestigious win with their management. It certainly helps prove we are on track with solid communication strategies. And it gives prestige to our company. As a matter of fact, we won the first-time special award: Mid-Size Agency of the Year. What a thrill that was!
Why are awards such as these important to those working in communication?
Regardless of the outcome of your submission, the judges feedback is invaluable in helping refine and plan future projects.
For more than 40 years, IABC’s Gold Quill Awards have recognized and awarded excellence in strategic communication worldwide. Gold Quill is the only awards program that honors the dedication, innovation and passion of communicators on a global scale.
